Goals:
1. Students will develop a sincere appreciation for legends, folklore, and ghost stories and how they are passed from generation to generation.

Unit Objectives:
1. SWBAT assess the impact that historical events have on North Carolina folklore and legends.
2. SWBAT identify the truth in several North Carolina legends.
3. SWBAT compare and contrast the various ways in which legends are passed down.
4. SWBAT interpret the various reasons for creating and passing down folklore and legends.

*Watch the Blackbeard movie, all the while making predictions about what is true and what is legend.
*Analyze historical documents relating the the Charlie Silver murder to draw conclusions about what really happened.
